It is not known who built the Krasinec mansion. It is described as an unfortified masonry building on a plain owned by a nobleman. Central information about the Krasinec manor comes from Slava of the Duchy of Carniola, Janez Vajkard Valvasor.

\u00bbThis manor or noble seat of Crassinitz (Crassiniza in Carniolan and Krasinicha in Croatian) lies in Middle Crain or in Slovenska Marka on a nice level place, between the market town and the castle of Pobre\u017eje and Metlika, one mile from Pobre\u017eje and two from Metlika; it is the same distance to \u010crnomelj, and twelve miles from Ljubljana.
\n<\/em>It is very pleasant to behold because of the small, but charming and delightful, large grove that approaches it, and the Kolpa river, which rustles with its silver waters not far away.
\n<\/em>Very close to the manor stands a beautiful brick corral for cattle, which was built only in 1686, after it had burned down twice earlier due to the criminal intentions of dishonest people, especially the Vlachs. And that is why one should not be too surprised in this place if one sees a red rooster, or a deliberately lit fire, lit either by the Turks or by some other party, which turns all one’s possessions into a pile of ashes.
\n<\/em>There is also a small pond between the manor and the corral, which contributes to the charm on the one hand, and to the kitchen table on the other. And in order not to ignore something that increases the charm of the place, we must say that there is a beautiful linden tree standing in the middle of the yard, which beautifully decorates the entire platform and pleasantly shades it with its green crown of leaves. And so we should also mention the large dovecote, which attracts pigeons from the grove and then delivers them for roosting. The current owner, namely Sir Johann Adam, Count of Purgstall, commander, etc., whose property he now owns, has added all this nicely and had the rooms inside beautifully painted.\u00ab<\/em><\/p>\n

From Valvasor’s depiction of the manor, one can see, that at the end of the 17th century, the building complex of the Krasinec manor included three brick one-story buildings, a smaller building of economic importance, a dovecote and a large linden tree in the middle of the courtyard, all of which was surrounded by a low wall.<\/p>\n

The first known owners of the Krasinec manor came from the noble family von Purgstall. The history of the family is very interesting and connected with all the key periods of the region’s history. During the 17th century, the Krasinec manor was transformed from into a noble residence, but the absence of an armory typical for nobles shows that it certainly did not have permanent residents. The Purgstalls stayed in Krasinac from time to time, especially when they wanted a fresher and easier environment than their old castles of Krupa, Pobre\u017eje or Gradac, or hunting in the nearby forest.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of the 18th century, the manor was still owned by the Purgstalls, but during the first half of the century it began to deteriorate rapidly. When the first topographic map of Carniola was created, the manor had already mostly fallen into disrepair, which is why the map does not show it as a castle building. The remains of the old Krasinec manor were included in the microtoponym Maierhof (Majer) obvious from the Franciscan Cadastre (cca. 1824).
